Public Service

Most of us, after we work through our rebellious teen age years, try to develop some positive character.  We try to develop positive traits like honesty, integrity, trust, good sportsmanship, consideration, and responsibility.

I watched an ex-senator, after being nominated for a position on the presidents’ cabinet, trying to justify his “mistake” in not paying his tax.  It was embarrassing to watch a man say “I apologize, but I hope you consider my thirty years of public service”.

That was a plea for pity on a man who had “sacrificed” thirty years of his life and dedicated those thirty years for us.  If you believe that, then you are dumber than those condescending public servants think you are, and they think we’re pretty dumb.

I get nauseated when people in Congress tell us what great public servants they are.  Am I supposed to feel beholden to them for all the good they have done for my nation?  I’m sorry!  I can’t feel that way when I look at the nation’s balance sheet, and the state of our economy.

Maybe a few politicians seek public office out of an honest concern for the welfare of the nation, but most seek those (often lifetime) positions because of greed and a desire for power.  Our representative system of government is seriously broken!

Our representative system allows our public servants to become multi-millionaires while they con us into thinking we should be grateful for their service.  Don’t misunderstand, I believe in gaining wealth, that’s what free enterprise offers; becoming wealthy as a public servant is not what our founding fathers intended.

The US Income Tax Code and its 67,000 pages is the reason our representative system is broken.  Until we repeal the income tax, or simplify it drastically, we will never fix the American economy.

The income tax code is the biggest tool government policymakers have for wealth creation (wealth for them).  Special interests and lobbyists that are allowed to influence politicians exist because of provisions written into the tax code.  Eliminate the income tax code and replace it with a flat tax or sales tax and lobbyists will die on the vine and allow America to become wealthy again.

Fixing our tax system would allow true public servants to represent the people, as our founders intended, rather than special interests that they depend on to maintain their throne of power.

We all have some greed in our hearts, politicians aren’t different, but the system that allows them to be tempted needs to change.  The free market system that channels greed in a positive direction, when it isn’t interfered with, is the model we should follow.  It’s the force that made America great.

Another reform that is needed for our free enterprise system to function properly, and be self regulating, is the elimination of the private central bank (Federal Reserve System).  We need to return the creation of dollars to the rightful owners, the American people.
